Pick-up the interview of Chris. Jacobsen

LANDING the part of understudy to John Owen-Jones’ Jean Valjean was so important to Christopher Jacobsen, he left college early to do it.
The 21-year-old from Thornhill, Cardiff has deferred his place on the Classical Vocal Studies course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama until next year to be in his favourite musical.
“It’s such a great part, it was definitely the right decision,” he said. “I was so thrilled to be given the part, especially after going for an open audition, it’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done and it’s also my favourite musical.”
Christopher, whose other theatre credits include Clem and Alfred in Benjamin Britten’s The Little Sweep at the Longborough Festival Opera where he later appeared in the La Boheme chorus, and Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd with the Welsh National Youth Opera, is hoping to learn from the best by shadowing the highly-acclaimed John Owen-Jones in the lead role.
“He’s brilliant,” he said.
I’ve met him lots of times now and he’s such a nice guy.”
Since 1985, more than 55 million people in 40 countries have seen the musical and Les Mis is the world’s longest-running musical
And Christian doesn’t mind a jot that being a part of it means he’s missing out on the lie-ins and late nights in town that usually go with the student lifestyle.
“It takes over your life really, there’s pretty much no room for a social life, but I’d rather be doing this,” he said. “It’s basically get home at 11pm every night and go to bed but it’s worth it!”
